State of the art building of 116,000 sq. ft. that will include shared laboratory spaces for Biosciences (two floors) and Chemistry (one floor), computing facilities, faculty offices and research student spaces. It will house biologists, chemists, physicists and computer and data scientists, mathematical biologists, all working towards the common goals of TSB. Centralized core facilities for specialized equipment, animal house and BSL-III facilities, instrumentation and efficient research management and support systems are planned. Construction will start in December 2020 with a completion date of March 2022.

Faculty

Each Center will have one Head and world-class Resident Faculty, with their independent research programmes, postdoctoral fellows and students. Additionally, each centre will also have Non-Resident (or Visiting) Faculty, who are global domain experts. They will be expected to visit for varying periods, have a research program of their own that is run with the help of Postdoctoral Fellows, and provide mentorship to young faculty of the School.

Post Doctoral and PhD Students

The School of Biosciences would have Postdoctoral Fellows and PhD students associated with existing and to be appointed resident and non-resident faculty. The number of Postdocs and PhD students will steadily increase as the School recruits more faculty. Additionally, there is a plan to create a junior investigator cadre for highly promising early career investigators, who would also be on a tenure track.

Partnerships

Ashoka University and its constituent Trivedi School of Biosciences are setting up partnerships with premier universities and research institutes to further the scientific mission high quality research and training in Biosciences. These partnerships would allow access to each other’s human resources and infrastructure, allow joint research and applications for funding, co-organization of conferences, meeting and symposia, and exchange of PhD and undergraduate students.
